WELCOME TO THE CLEVELAND COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE WEBSITE

Our mission is to maintain a high quality of life for all residents and visitors of Cleveland County, by providing competent and professional Law Enforcement Services and Detention Facilities, while working in partnership with our citizens to develop policing services to meet the unique needs of the community, while ensuring fairness, equal treatment and protection to all. 

OUR SERVICES

Detention

The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office Detention Division consists of two facilities, The Cleveland County Detention Center and the Law Enforcement Detention Center. Both facilities are manned twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Law Enforcement

The Patrol Division's primary responsibility is to respond to calls for service in the unincorporated areas and small municipalities of the 485 square mile county. This responsibility includes conducting preliminary criminal investigations and the enforcement of North Carolina General Statues. These services are offered twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Civil Services

The Civil Division of the Sheriff’s Office currently falls under the command of the Administrative Captain. This unit is responsible for the service and execution of various processes issued by and for the Courts of North Carolina.

Court Security

Court security is an essential function of the Sheriff's Office. These officers maintain security of the courtrooms by serving as a bailiff while court is in session. They also are responsible for serving warrants, manning the X-ray machine and metal detectors which are located at the front door of the courthouse.

Victim Services

Our mission is to improve our community by working to meet the varying needs of crime victims, protecting the rights of victims, and providing a safe place for victims to receive support, education, and appropriate referrals. Victims of crime respond to trauma in different ways and have different needs.

Training and Recruitment

The Sheriff’s Office hires highly motivated men and women who enjoy working with the public. We emphasize training and skill development well in excess of State certification requirements. Each new deputy is required to go through a comprehensive field training for a minimum of 12 weeks.
